Day Four: Disneyland

Finally, we hit Disneyland today.  We got up early-ish.  Left here around 20 minutes to 9 for our "Magic Morning" early entry into Disneyland at 9am.  Normal gate opening at 10am.

The kids at the entrance just after we walked in.

First thing through the gates we hit the tea cups.  Tea cups rock!!

Taken just before we got on.  I have video of us on the ride!  Will figure out posting asap.

After that, we went on the Alice in Wonderland ride, which Joe declared the best ride ever.  He continued to say each ride was the best ride ever all day.

We then went around to do Haunted Mansion, then Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and Indiana Jones.

Then the Matterhorn Bobsleds.  Then to the Buzz Lightyear ride, Captain EO (Michael Jackson movie in 3d), then Space Mountain.  Joe didn't enjoy Space Mountain - he thought he was going to be sick after that one!  The kids were going to go on the Finding Nemo ride, I decided not to because it was in a submarine, and small enclosed spaces don't suit me well.  They waited in line for 10 minutes and then decided the ride was too slow and wouldn't be worth the wait!

Joe asleep at the wheel...

Then we went off to toon town in search of a car ride that Joe had seen.  We didn't find it there, but we did find a Roger Rabbit car ride that was pretty fun.  Then we ended up on the Go Go Gadget Rollercoaster. We then found the car ride - Autopia - that Joe wanted in the first place.  Sofie and Joe went on that one without me because by that stage I think my feet had fallen off somewhere so I went off to find them again.

So with my feet gone walkabout, and starving children, we went merchandise shopping and to get some food.

We ate at Cafe Orleans where Sofie tried Gumbo and we had Monte Christo sandwiches.  They were interesting!!  Deep fried turkey, ham and cheese sandwiches sprinkled with powdered sugar served with berry sauce.  Incredibly strange, but interestingly delicious.  I even got brave enough to dip my sandwich in berry sauce.  Think a turkey and ham sandwich spread with raspberry jam, strange, but not terrible.  The lunch was way too sweet for me though and I felt kind of sick eating it.

We limped back to the hotel, I threw my PJ pants on and was then ordered to do the laundry by my wonderful children.  I guess it was a good idea, because I had not much left to wear.  So I wandered the hotel in my PJs and did the laundry.

Sofie has declared that she wants to live in Disneyland forever, and Joe is moving with her.  I wonder if I can get away with accidentally leaving them there?  Perhaps they can be brought up by Disney characters?

It was a brilliant day.  The longest we waited in line was about 15 minutes.  We got to do everything we wanted to do and spent lots of money on lots of cool stuff.  And apart from my swollen feet, nothing bad happened all day!

Joe was a pirate for the day!  Great face painting.

Please think of me tomorrow as I limp through California Adventure park and somehow keep up with children who are right now, fighting each other with the lightsabers they built at the Star Wars shop...  What does it take to tire them out?  We were at Disneyland for 10 hours solid and didn't stop!  Gah!!

The videos are taking forever to upload on this blog thing.  Perhaps I'll see if I can upload them somewhere else and link to here...

Next post tomorrow night!
